Answers to common questions
Everything you need to know about visiting the practice, what to expect from treatment, and how to get started.
Getting Started
What happens at the first visit?
The first visit is an initial evaluation. Dr. Borys will review your history, examine the painful or limited area, and, when appropriate, use in-office diagnostic ultrasound to better understand what may be driving your symptoms.
This visit is not about rushing into a procedure. The goal is to understand what is most likely causing your pain or limitation, determine whether treatment here is the right fit, and create a clear plan forward. This may include treatment, rehab guidance, naturopathic support, additional imaging, referral, or another appropriate next step.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No referral is required. You can schedule an initial visit directly by booking online or calling the office at (360) 738-3230.
What conditions does Dr. Borys treat?
Dr. Borys focuses on chronic musculoskeletal pain — including knee, shoulder, hip, and back problems, osteoarthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and certain nerve-related pain. If your condition is not a good fit for the treatments offered, he will tell you directly and help point you toward the right next step.
Treatments
What treatments are offered?
Dr. Borys offers regenerative and non-surgical treatments including PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, prolotherapy, perineural injection therapy, nerve hydrodissection, shockwave therapy, and naturopathic medicine. Treatments are often performed under ultrasound guidance for precision.
Does Dr. Borys offer stem cell injections?
Not currently. Dr. Borys does not offer stem cell injections for orthopedic conditions at this time.
This is an important distinction, because many treatments marketed as "stem cell therapy" or "regenerative medicine" are not the same as PRP. Examples include amniotic fluid, amniotic membrane, umbilical cord tissue, Wharton's jelly, exosomes, "birth tissue" products, and donor-derived cell products.
These treatments are often promoted for arthritis, tendon injuries, disc problems, back pain, neck pain, and joint pain. However, many are not FDA-approved for those orthopedic uses and may be marketed in ways that make them sound more proven or standardized than they really are.
Dr. Borys does not dismiss the future of cell-based orthopedic medicine. He is careful to offer treatments that are reasonable, evidence-informed, and matched to the patient's actual diagnosis. At this time, he focuses on options such as PRP, which uses a patient's own blood and has stronger clinical support for selected joint and tendon conditions.
How soon will I notice results?
Regenerative treatments work gradually rather than instantly. Many patients begin noticing improvement around 6–12 weeks after treatment, with continued change over several months as the tissue heals. Dr. Borys will discuss realistic expectations for your specific condition.
Are regenerative treatments guaranteed to work?
No. Results vary by diagnosis, severity, overall health, and follow-through with rehabilitation. The initial visit is designed to determine whether treatment is likely to be a reasonable fit before proceeding — if your condition is not a good candidate, Dr. Borys will tell you directly.
Insurance & Pricing
Is treatment covered by insurance?
The initial visit is a standard medical evaluation — a history, exam, and, when appropriate, diagnostic ultrasound — and is typically billable to insurance, including major plans such as Regence and Premera. This means the visit to understand what is driving your pain and to build a plan is often covered like any other office visit.
The regenerative procedures themselves, such as PRP and prolotherapy, are generally not covered and are an out-of-pocket expense, since most plans still classify them as investigational.
Pricing and expected costs for any out-of-pocket treatment are reviewed with you before proceeding, so there are no surprises. The office can also help you understand what to expect from your specific plan.
How much does PRP cost?
Most PRP treatments range from $800 to $1,200 per session, depending on the area treated.
Your exact cost is confirmed at your initial evaluation — which is a standard office visit, often billable to insurance — before anything is scheduled. You can also call (360) 738-3230 with questions about pricing.
How much does prolotherapy cost?
Most prolotherapy treatments range from $275 to $550 per session, depending on the number of areas treated.
Your exact cost is confirmed at your initial evaluation — which is a standard office visit, often billable to insurance — before anything is scheduled. You can also call (360) 738-3230 with questions about pricing.
